A Peruvian researcher and environmental governance specialist, she brings nearly 20 years of experience working at the intersection of political ecology, institutional analysis, and participatory approaches to environmental governance. Her work is guided by a commitment to advancing climate justice, strengthening territorial governance, and supporting strategies that connect research, policy, and practice.

Before joining CLUA, Mireya worked across academia, civil society, and applied research organizations. From 2018 to 2025, she served as project coordinator and postdoctoral researcher at the Instituto del Bien Común, where she led and supported initiatives focused on Indigenous territorial governance, forest conservation, and the integration of Indigenous knowledge and scientific research in the Amazon. She also served as president of the board of the Seminario Permanente de Investigación Agraria (SEPIA) from 2023 to 2025 and maintained an active engagement with the Grupo de Análisis para el Desarrollo (GRADE), where she worked as an assistant researcher from 2008 to 2011 and as a consultant from 2020 to 2024, carrying out research on extractive industries and institutional change.

Mireya’s doctoral research in the Oxapampa-Asháninka-Yánesha Biosphere Reserve examined how micropolitics, local actors, institutional dynamics, and empathy shape environmental governance and conservation arrangements. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Geography from Clark University and a B.A. in Anthropology from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.
