Director of Communications Climate and Land Use Alliance

Melissa Tupper is the Climate and Land Use Alliance’s Director of Communications.

For over 25 years, Melissa has worked with non-profit organizations with diverse approaches to protecting the planet – by tackling climate change, conserving forests and oceans, advancing Indigenous and community land rights, protecting and restoring nature, advocating for environmentalism and social justice, making transportation more sustainable, and getting people outdoors and engaged in caring for their local wild spaces.

Before joining CLUA, Melissa led communications for the World Wildlife Fund’s global Forest and Climate Initiative and for WWF-Canada’s marine conservation work on the Pacific Coast of British Columbia. While studying sea turtles in Greece, Melissa realized she was not a particularly good scientist. She’s been dedicated to environmental communications ever since.

Melissa has an MA (Environmental Education and Communications) from Royal Roads University and a BSc (Biology) from the University of British Columbia.
