Climate and Land Use Alliance
Mary Nemerov has over twenty years’ of experience in raising funds for climate advocacy, land conservation, and civic institutions. She joined CLUA in 2024 as Director of Development, where she is the lead fundraising strategist for Forests, People, Climate (FPC), a collaborative of philanthropic donors, civil society, and community-based organizations. CLUA hosts FPC and coordinates with other grant makers to ensure funding through FPC reaches those seeking to halt and reverse tropical deforestation while supporting just, sustainable development. In her role, Mary also leads fundraising strategy for CLUA initiatives.
Most recently, Mary has served as the chief fundraiser for both the California Academy of Sciences and the Sierra Club, overseeing fundraising strategy and operations for both organizations and serving on their senior leadership teams. She is a San Francisco native with a degree in the Political Economy of Industrial Societies from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning with an emphasis in environmental planning from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She lives in Palo Alto with her husband and has two college age daughters.
