Ivana Fertziger joined Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies (MACP) in September 2021 as program officer for the Environment domain. In this role, Ivana leads development and implementation of the domain’s tropical forest work in select regions around the world.
Prior to joining MACP, Ivana was a Senior Program Officer at the Ford Foundation, where she worked for eight years in Mexico and Central America on rural livelihoods and Indigenous Peoples’ natural resource rights and wellbeing. For her final three years at the Ford Foundation, Ivana also served as Coordinator for the Climate and Land Use Alliance (CLUA) initiative in Mexico and Central America, leading the donor collaborative’s regional grantmaking on community forestry, Indigenous Peoples’ rights, and women and youth leadership and inclusion. Ivana started her social justice career in microfinance at ACCION New York and FINCA Mexico, then worked for seven years for Development Alternatives Inc. (DAI) implementing projects in rural finance and sustainable development in Mexico, Central America, and South America.
Ivana earned her bachelor’s with honors in Spanish and Latin American Studies from Carleton College. She also has a Master’s of International Affairs from Columbia University.
